5 Tips for Writing a Bride Wedding Speech

When you get closer and closer to the big day, you get more and more excited. At least that was what I felt, when I got closer to my wedding with Luke. The more excited I got, the less I could think of what to put in my bride wedding speech. I am sure that most other brides probably feel the same as I did, so I’ve put together a few tips you can use for writing your bride wedding speech.

Tip 1: Write from your heart
Okay – you have probably heard it before, and maybe it sounds like a tacky or simple trick. But there is no way around it; this is definitely the most important thing in your speech. When you are writing down what you would like to say, keep it true and keep writing from your heart. Everything in your speech has to be important, both for you, your groom, your family and everybody else at the wedding.

Tip 2: Include humor in your speech
Keep it a bit witty and concise; after all the brides big toast should not just be a long boring speak, where your grandparents fall asleep. Put in a few funny remarks, but don’t embarrass or humiliate anyone. Be careful not to step on anyone’s toes, it will kill the mood.

Tip 3: Tell the story of you and your groom
This is really important in any wedding speech; the story about you and your bride. Tell how you met each other or your first time together. Make it a bit of a love story, and you can really move the guests at your wedding.

Tip 4: Remember thank everybody
A lot of people actually forget to thank important people at their wedding, because they didn’t write a list of people to thank. Make a list of everybody you need to thank on your wedding day, and you will already be one step ahead.

Tip 5: Be comfortable
It can be really nerve-wracking to stand in front of a big crowd and making your wedding toast. I personally took a couple of glasses of champagne before I made my speech, and that helped me calm down. Of course you shouldn’t get drunk, but make sure you don’t have too many nerves to make your speech. Relax and don’t think about it too much – it is your day, and you should enjoy your day, that’s the most important thing.
